Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, said that the meeting of the general secretaries of the Palestinian factions is a positive step to unify the Palestinian ranks.
Aboul Gheit added in a statement today, Saturday, that it was agreed on the priorities of Palestinian political action in the coming stage, under the umbrella of the Palestine Liberation Organization, the sole legitimate representative of the Palestinian people, according to (WAFA).
He welcomed the outcomes of the meeting, noting that ending the division is a crucial and decisive step regarding the fate of the Palestinian cause, which has suffered greatly from its results.
He expressed his appreciation for the initiative of President Mahmoud Abbas and his responsible leadership at this important moment in the history of the Palestinian cause, speaking of the president’s remarkable effort to end the division, pave the way towards achieving reconciliation, and unify the Palestinians on a common strategy to end the occupation and establish an independent state, Geographically contiguous and viable, on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Aboul Gheit agreed with the rejection of annexation plans and the “deal of the century”, or any proposed solutions that do not comply with the principles of international legitimacy, international law, and the formula for a two-state solution that enjoys international consensus and support from the United Nations
