Israeli Economic Minister Amir Peretz said on Wednesday that Israel is close to making a model similar to the Iron Dome intended to intercept the IED balloons launched from the Gaza Strip.
In statements carried by the Israeli (Channel Seven), he expressed his hope that they would reach the best solution for monitoring and early destruction of balloons before they reach our interior, according to what he said.
It is noteworthy that the IED balloons have been used by young men from Gaza, for more than two years, to protest the continued Israeli siege on the Strip.
Young men release balloons to the agricultural lands of the settlements on the Gaza Strip, where they cause fires in a large number of agricultural dunums.
About a month ago, and over the course of more than three weeks, Palestinian youths launched incendiary balloons towards the cover areas, which the Israeli army responded by bombing separate areas of the Gaza Strip.
The launching of the balloons was halted after an agreement between Hamas and Israel, under the auspices of the United Nations and Qatar.
