The refugees in Gaza called on the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) to reverse its decision to reduce the food basket and unify relief aid for refugees.
This came during vigils organized by the Refugee Department and the UN Relief Agency in the Democratic Front in various regions of the Gaza Strip.
In turn, Ashraf Abu Al-Rous, the head of the Relief Agency in the Democratic Front, warned against the danger of UNRWA’s move to unify the food basket. .
“If the agency insists on this step, it is our natural right to engage in all forms of struggle to obtain our rights, and the UNRWA is required to work on a strategic plan to protect refugees,” he added.
He explained that these vigils are a message of warning to the Agency’s management against compromising the food basket of refugees.
For her part, Iman Labad, one of the refugee women participating in the protest, demanded not to cancel the yellow box and unify the food basket, because the living conditions of refugees in Gaza are getting worse.
She indicated that if the agency’s management did not respond to the pleas and demands, we will continue to work for the continuation of these vigils until this decision is reversed.
