Abu Holly appreciates the Japanese support for UNRWA at a value of $ 40 million

Member of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization and Head of the Refugee Affairs Department, Dr. Ahmed Abu Houli, valued Japan’s donation to financially support the UNRWA budget, at a value of $ 40 million, to support its regular budget for the year 2021.

Dr. said. Abu Huli, in a press release issued today (Sunday), the financial support provided by Japan will contribute to the continuation of UNRWA in providing basic services in its five areas of operations to nearly 5.9 million Palestinian refugees, alleviating the suffering of Palestinian refugees, and enabling UNRWA to pay the salaries of its employees in the coming months.

He pointed out that Japan is one of the main donors to UNRWA, and one of the supporters of its work in providing humanitarian services to Palestinian refugees until a just solution to their case is found in accordance with UN resolutions.

He added that Japan contributed in the past years to enabling UNRWA to overcome its financial crises by providing additional funding to the UNRWA budget.

He explained that Japan was not limited to supporting Palestinian refugees through funding the UNRWA budget, but by providing in-kind assistance, supplies and medical equipment, including oxygen generators, pressure equipment, medical beds, medical devices for people with special needs, and sterilization materials for Palestinian camps through the Department of Refugee Affairs to face the repercussions of the Corona pandemic. .

Dr. said. Abu Huli that Japan is a friend of the Palestinian people, and a supporter of their legitimate rights to return to their homes and determine their destiny by establishing their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.

Dr. Abu Huli, donor and funding countries for UNRWA to fulfill their financial pledges, raise the ceiling of their contributions, and donate additional funding to achieve financial stability for the UNRWA budget for the year 2021 to prevent new crises affecting its services provided to Palestinian refugees.

Dr. Abu Huli that the organization’s refugee affairs department is working with the Arab countries hosting Palestinian refugees to urge donors to support UNRWA financially to enable it to perform its role entrusted to it in accordance with the mandate granted to it by Resolution 302.
