A US State Department official confirmed that US efforts are now focused on rebuilding the Gaza Strip, in cooperation with the Palestinian National Authority, pointing out at the same time that the process will be through the United Nations.

In statements to him, this evening, Monday, the official indicated that the US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, will focus in his meetings on the importance of holding the cease-fire and finding ways to improve the lives of Israelis and Palestinians.

He said, “We have worked tirelessly with all our partners in the region, including the Israelis and the Palestinians,” adding: “It is too early to invite the parties to Washington to revive the peace process.”

On the Egyptian role, the American official emphasized that the Arab Republic of Egypt has a great role in providing aid to the Gaza Strip, appreciating the Egyptian, Jordanian and Qatari role in stopping the violence.
