Palestinian street artists pay tribute to veteran Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh by painting her portrait on a mural in Gaza City. Abu Akleh, who was killed a day earlier while covering a raid in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, was among Arab media’s most prominent figures and widely hailed for her bravery and professionalism.
Abu Aqleh is a widely known journalist in the Arab world, and one of the first media figures to emerge through Al Jazeera, where she has been working since 1997.
The news of the death of the 51-year-old veteran journalist had a severe impact on everyone who knew her and used to follow her reports for more than two decades, whether in the Palestinian territories, the Middle East, or even in Europe and the United States of America, of which she is a citizen.
