The United Nations calls on Israel to stop demolitions in the Palestinian territories

Humanitarian Coordinator in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, Lynne Hastings, warned that the Israeli occupation state’s rejection of petitions against such eviction orders leads to displacement and could amount to forcible transfer.

Hastings considered this to be inconsistent with United Nations Security Council resolutions and international law.

“As all local legal remedies have been exhausted, the community is now unprotected and at risk of imminent displacement,” she said in a separate press release.

Hastings also renewed the call of United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to the occupying power to stop demolitions and evictions in the occupied Palestinian territory, in line with its obligations under international law.

In turn, the United Nations Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Tor Wencesland, called on the Israeli occupation authorities to stop the demolitions and evictions in the occupied Palestinian territory.
