Modern Gaza history

At the beginning of the 20th century, Gaza was under Ottoman rule until the outbreak of World War I, and had a share in Gaza where there were two battles during which the British army was unable to seize the city. But then British forces led by General Lord Allenby captured it on 7 October 1917; since then, the whole of Gaza and Palestine has been under British occupation and mandate.

Between 1917 and 1948, the Strip was part of Great Britain. After the Armistice Agreement of 1949 and until the 1967 war, the Strip was under Egyptian administration, with the exception of the period between January 1956 and March 1957, when it was under Israeli occupation. In 1993, an agreement was reached between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization, and the Oslo Accords were signed.

In 1994, the Israeli occupation forces left large parts of the Gaza Strip and deployed Palestinian forces in the Strip, In 2004, Israeli Prime Minister Sharon announced a plan for the Israeli withdrawal from all parts of the Strip. Withdrawal from all settlements in 2005.
